For spring break 32 Gators flew to Los Angeles, California for the APhA 2013 Annual Meeting & Exposition. While on the trip, students from all four campuses bonded through interactive leadership training sessions, patient care project workshops, beautiful sunsets on the beach, and touristy excursions through Hollywood, Los Angeles, Venice Beach, and Santa Monica.
Jim Hardt, who works with developing executives and other leaders at Target, gave a leadership workshop. Ami Bhatt, Director of Talent Acquisitions & Professional Relations of Wal-Mart, also presented on leadership. At the GenerationRX workshop, our very own, Amy Kiskaddon and Ashley Rowand gave a presentation to a room with well over 200 student pharmacists from all over the country on how to run a successful GenerationRX patient care project.
There were so many learning opportunities, idea exchanges, and amazing people to connect with! Whatever your interest, there was no doubt there was an expert eager to answer your questions, share ideas, and form new relationships with. When it comes to being number one, the University of Florida College of Pharmacy is no stranger. On the very first day, UF won first place for PAC fundraising! At the Closing Ceremony, we won the Operation Diabetes National Award, GenerationRX Region 3 Award, and Operation Heart Region 3 Award! Jt Fannin was elected to serve on the APhA-ASP National Executive Committee as Speaker of the House! APhA-ASP saved the best for last; Professor Munyer was awarded as APhA-ASP’s Outstanding Chapter Advisor!
It was great to experience not only the magnificence of our profession, but also the awesomeness of our college! It was unmistakable that the University of Florida College of Pharmacy is a leader in APhA-ASP!
