One of the greatest aspects of APhA-ASP is the ability of members to connect directly with patients. Patient care projects allow members to utilize what they’ve learned in the classroom in a real-world setting with real patients.
There are six national patient care projects within APhA-ASP. They include Operation Diabetes, Operation Heart, Operation Immunization, Operation OTC Medication Safety, Operation Substance Use Disorders, and Operation Reproductive Health. APhA-ASP at the University of Florida also has many local patient care and community projects: Great Gator Health Fest, Mental Health, Operation Pride, Pharmacogenomics, and Special Populations. Many opportunities are given to members to volunteer for screenings and events through these patient care projects.
