IPSF – Medication Awareness

“More than one in three medicine-related hospitalizations happen because that person did not take their medicine as directed.”

The Medicine Awareness Campaign is an IPSF public health campaign that many countries participating in IPSF support. APhA-ASP decided to participate in this specific IPSF public health campaign due to its promotion of medication awareness, which is essential to our profession. This campaign aims to inform about drug abuse and addictions, drug side effects and adverse reactions, drug interaction (drug-drug, drug-food) and polypharmacy, provide free, accurate data about drugs, medication adherence, and increase drug awareness among special populations. Thus, we as student pharmacists know that patients should be educated about the effects of medications to optimize their health outcomes.
